talon/eclipse factory sunroof tool? roof crank

the sunroof motor is gone out of my 95 talon and as i was reading the repair manual for it it said there was a factory tool in the back of the car to open and close the sunroof in case of emergencies. can anyone show me a picture of this or tell me where i could go to get another?

It's a hex wrench, about 6" long, with a bend in the middle so you can wind it. It's in the factory tool kit. I think it's a 5mm if you don't have the factory piece, so just find one that will work. To use it, pop the little inspection cover off the sunroof switch trim piece and insert the wrench into the gear. You'll need to push up a little when you crank it, to engage the gear...that'll be obvious when you start.

i just went to autozone and used a 5mm hex and it did nothing is it a star head that you stick in the gears where the motor gear goes? or could someone just post a picture of the proper tool or even sell me one?

The hex tool goes in the white plastic part under the removable cover on the switch housing. Once the wrench is in, you have to push up about 1/4" to seat the white part against the gear before it will turn.

If you are using an L shaped hex wrench, you won't get enough leverage to turn it. I've tried to do it that way when I couldn't find the factory tool and it won't work. Insert the long side of the wrench into the gear, then grab the short end with some pliers at 90* to the long arm, push up, and turn. It'll be 5-6 full turns to close it if it's all the way open.
