ok soo i just made 3,700$ about a thousands going to the credit card and i wana put a little away sooo my question is should i get body work done ### i was recently in an accident and make the car finally look rite.. or do i get the motor rebuilt??? i have 146,000 miles on the car, i believe the front main engine seal is shoot.. i loss a lot of oil out of that area. can i do a motor rebuild for about 2,000 im not looking to do anything more then rebuild it. other then the oil the car runs fine (bad idle controller) thats all or should i just have the seal replaced... ohhh if i let the car idle for a while then hit the gas i get smoke outa the exhaust. maybe a bad valve seal???

It all really depends on you. On one hand you have your body work which i dont know the extent of your damage. On the other hand you have your engine leaking oil. There is a couple of questions you need to ask yourself.
1)Is this my main mode of transportation?
2)Can i afford to let the oil run out and possible ruin my motor?
3)Can i afford the chances of not having a car?

Like me my GST is my main mode of transportation so i cant afford to have it down for very long. So the final decision come down to you on what you can afford and what you deem more important.

Like totaleclipse04 stated. You should have your car running at its best before body work should be worried about. If it's minor dents or dings leave it. Unless it hinder's your performance I would not bother fixing it until you have your car runing in prime condition. The dents will always be there when you need to fix it. So I would say get a 6 bolt drop in some 2g pistons and 1g rods and your set.

I agree with boredsm what good is it to have a nice looking car if it has to sit cause the motor is fried because you didnt fix it while it was an easy fix? Just my 2c.

Dude, totally do the body first. Get your ride respectable looking. If compression is good just pull the motor, buy a gasket kit, replace all the gaskets and put it back in, cost should be $200.

Later Dr Turbo

I just did this. The front main seal isn't too hard to do, especially if you pull the motor. I bought the gaskets, new hoses, and some high temp engine paint to give it a much needed clean up while I was at it. I was leaking 3 quarts of oil every 4 weeks and a good bit of that oil was flung about the engine bay. I scrubbed it all down. Prepped and painted the rusty spots, and I was good to go.

Yea just put front and rear main seals on myself but my motor is it the garage on a stand. Spun a rod bearing last oct and if everything works out i might have it ready to run in time to put it up for the winter :(
