well, its offical, i think i have a cracked piston. all the signs point to it besidis the actual compression test. idles and sputters, wont build boost, runs like crap.

anyways, long story short i was qouted 3800 for a fully built motor and i dont really need that. im looking at a budget build, preferably using stock parts or near stock parts. whats the best budget route i coul take?

Compression test the motor before you do anything.. You are jumping to conclusions.. Even cracked pistons will still boost. My piston was cracked and ran completely normal.. I compression tested and found out about the piston. You could have a bad valve or blown headgasket.
