Is that engine something special?

Ok, I don't own a DSM but I'm helping a buddy who does. We just got back from a U-pull it, where we found a Talon with a 2.0l N/A, Auto, Fwd. Now what stumps us is that it had a Hyundai valve cover, oil fill cap, and has Cyclone cast into the intake manifold. We heard that it should be a dual runner intake manifold so we grabbed it, but once we got it out it looks just like a standard intake. Now I didn't compare it side by side to a regular intake but it doesn't look any different. Is that engine something special? Should we go back and yank the rest out? Any info as to what it is would be helpful. Before you ask I didn't take pics of the car, valve cover, or intake. I can get pics of the intake though. Oh, I don't know if this helps but the injectors were a redish/pink. The whole engine/trans, wiring harness, and pcm were all still intact, all we did was remove the intake manifold so everything is still salvageable.

Pretty common find on some of the "hacked together" cars. These valve covers are simply interchangable. I think there are at least 4 or 5 different "stock" valve covers that will fit on a 4g63. As for the "Cyclone" intake... those are from JDM engines. There is much debate on the forums that these flow better/worse than the domestic style intakes. I think its all hype, I mean, who ever associates cyclone with the word slow?:p

Pink top injectors were JDM's 550's "i think" but they are bigger than stock. Another question is what year is the car? Some 1st gens came with a 4g63 that was N/A with higher compression. To answer your question about the Hyundai valve cover, believe it or not Hyundai did get a 4g63 motor just non turbo and people made them sleepers heh. That's about all the info i can give you i'm sure someone else can shed more light. Key info would be what year car did you get it from, And has it been turbo and made N/A?

No, it's def N/A. It still has the factory airbox and emission crap. The fan blades were made of red plastic def not painted because I scratched at them with a screwdriver. Like I said the car was UNMOLESTED. No exhaust, no performance anything completely stock. As far as the year I knew I should have looked.
If it is a cyclone intake why doesn't it have the dual runners?

1992-1998 Hyundai Sonata's I believe had the 4g63 motor in it. They just slapped their logo on the valve cover that's all. And just cause it says Cyclone on the intake amnifold doesn't make it an actual Cyclone. It's very easy to distinguish between the two.
