Ok so i have a 96 eclipse rs non turbo. It has been running fine for its 199k miles, except for burning some oil. I was pretty sure that i needed to replace the head gasket and was going to do that soon. There was never any coolant in the oil and it only smoked when i idled for a long time or when driving it like a bitch lol. Anyway yesterday i was jumping my friends car that has a bad ground or somthing cause it wouldnt start for about 5 or 6 minutes. Everything was going fine, I saw a SMALL poof of smoke out of my exhuast and my temp on the dash was about 1mm above normal. Nothing to be worried about, the ECT on my reader was at 203, normal. Then all of a sudden my intake gets REALLY loud, sounded like a damn jet engine and my rpms were fluctuating from about 250-500 for about 5 seconds, and i gave it some gas to try and keep it running. This made it sputter for about 1 second longer and then finally died

. I tried to start it again and it tries really hard and almost started but also sounds like somthing might be loose inside the engine. Not rod knock or anything like that. Kinda like sand or somthing. My friend said it could just be a chink of the head gasket. It did not start again last night, but i tried it again this morning after it cooled down overnight and it started! I did not try and move but it ran but you could definetly tell somthing was wrong. There is now coolant in my fresh oil that i changed about 300 miles ago. I had a small lifter tick but was barley noticable, now it is louder not really loud but its there. Could this just be because my intake was open up so much (seeing as it was loud as hell) or could it only be that i messed that up to? So what do you guys think? Is it my head gasket? Somthing else? Did my friends 91 ws6 just hate it so much and kill everything it touches? Lol. Luckily i have my dads 99gsx for a few days until i get it fixed lol, UPGRADE! Anyways help would be greatly appreciated. Btw my car is stock minus a k&n intake and a hacked intake box.
