Well, I the talon just got back from the shop, and it doesn't look good. I was going to get the timing adjusted and the entire vehicle inspected, but they didn't know how to adjust the timing on my car.

Heres what they say should be fixed-
Flush brake system W/ABS- 17.99
Brake system flush labor- 50
-
Tie Rod Ends (upper-front right)
Tie Rod Outer- 58.99
Labor- 72.00
-
Ball Joints
Upper ball joint- 87.88
Remove and replace F ball joint, upper 72.00
-
Braking system
Remove and replace wheel speed abs sensor rear 146.94
Labor- 72.00
-
Shocks (rear both)
R Ultra strut 2- 157.39
R strut mount 2- 63.38
Inspect and remove rear shock and strut assembly-144
-
Alignment Service- 69.99
-
Fuzion Tires 4- 495.88

How should my priority list look? I don't have the money to get it all done right away.
Are there any parts that should be upgraded instead of using oem parts?
What can I change myself? (why even ask.... right)

hmmm.....is this a known good and reputable shop? I think some of those things may be for the managers vacation fund.

Funny you mention that because the lady at the front counter said we should wait till tuesday to have them work on the car because the head mechanic was on vacation.

I call bullshit on half of that stuff....buy a haynes manual and go to town on the dam thing yourself and you wont look back....that's apart of the joy of owning a dizzum. Get them hands dirtay!!!

You should be able to flush the brakes with some help from a friend. ABS, bah who needs ABS I'd skip that. Struts I'd say upgrade while you're in there with Koni Yellows(better option) or Tokico Blues(very good option). How bad are your tires? Alignment price isn't terrible. As for what you can do yourself with a decent set of hand tools you can do pretty much all of it if you're mechanically inclined except for mounting tires and doing the alignment(which you can do if you're really ambitious).

well, i have the school shop on my side too. They have all the tools i could want, and I can mount and balance the tires there.

So it's not that hard to change struts/shocks?
I understand them, but i just don't know whats involved.
