yeah, just to see if my MAF was the culpriti put the GM maf on the car as a draw thru (put it where the stock one goes) and sue enough...my datalogs still show -40 deg intake, but thats ALL it shows in terms of something thats up. i thought fried ECU, but its literally the only dataloggin issue thats staying static.

something about a lead on the board i hear ifits not my MAF?

A bad sensor or shorted wires to it will often cause them to default a signal that the ECU interperits as -40*F

Also with the wires unhooked it will read the same. Start checking your wires and the MAFT settings.

Yep. My guess is your coolant temp sensor, and/or wires to it. It is located on the bottom half of your thermostat housing.

funny story, when i bought the ca he toldme it would need that. didnt know it would make the static reading -40.

aslo, how am i able to drive the car when im using the GM MAF as a draw thru?

The GM Maf doesn't have an IAT(Intake Air Temp.) or Barometric sensor. The unit fixes this values to some preset numbers, I think it was 85 degrees for IAT and 1 bar for barometric pressure. You should check if there's voltage(somewhere between 0-5v) coming out from the MAFT(not MAF) from those two cables, brown and grey should be the ones.

it sounds to me like my coolant sensor is shot, and i probally need to have the ECU re soldered.

next question, im on my stock bypass valve and hear this sound that sounds likea bird, i assume its flutter. is this normal?

btw, i dont have a MAFT box, just the wire and the GMmaf. i think its not going to do me very good runnin it as a draw thru like i am for the moment is it?

NOPE!!

You need to put your stock sensor back in. The GM MAF needs the translator to talk to the ecu in the same language that the stock sensor does. The translator emulates the stock sensor's barometer and temp readings. Therefore the reason you are getting -40* is because the way it sits your car doesn't have a intake temp sensor.

Bet your car is running like crap too due to the GM sensor being a hotwire type instead of a karman vortex type.

believe it ornot, the datalog shows i have NO knock with the GM sensor, but i took it off today anyway since i knew it wasnt being used right. my -40 intake temps were WELL before i even got my GM maf LOL.

It will show no knock because the car is flooded with fuel. The car is in open loop, reading -40 intake temp., no barometric pressure and no Karman hz, Put a stock maf back on and then start troubleshooting.

If you still get -40 with stock Maf, there's one of the wires that comes out from it, which is the IAT signal. It should have somewhere between 0-5v.

i am going to remove the ECU to look for the burnt trace, expect a pic thread askin which one is the fried one LOL

also, where is the ECU on the GVR4? behind the radio?
