2g Idling Problem

I have a problem with my 2g idling. The car will start up right away and idle fine no matter if the engine is cold or warm. The problem I'm having is when driving, not matter what RMP I'm in. When I let off the gas and press the clutch to slow down the idle drop very low and the car shut off. This happen very time, I have to apply a little gas to keep the RMP up and the car running everything time I press the clutch to slow down. I don't know what's going on. If anyone could help that would be great.
 
If you fill out your mod list we would have a much easier time diagnosing this. Do you have a lightened flywheel? Do you have DSMLink and messed with your fuel settings for engine braking? Either of those could be the culprit. If you have a lightened flywheel your idle frequently has to be turned up a few hundred RPM. The fuel settings can be changed in DSMLink to "catch" the falling RPMs before you stall as well.
 
I dont' have a lighten flywheel. But yes I had Dsmlink, just recently got it a couple days ago, Now trying to dail in my LTFT. I had the problem before I even put in DSMLink. I start having the problem with the idling when I swap my 450cc to 660cc and try to tunning with SAFC II. I'm new to DSMLink, how do I change my fuel for braking with DSMLink.

If you look on the ECU/Logfile menu under RPMS there is a Coast FC adj. Try adding say 250 there and see if that helps. Whenever the RPMS are falling the computer pulls all fuel in order to save gas. This just tells the computer to give it some gas before you get to your idle RPM. Alot of times the BB turbo can push enough air through the BOV as its spooling down to cause reversion through the MAF. That messes up your airflow readings temporarily.
 
I try adjusting my Coast FC addjustment to 250 and still it didn't work. What do you mean smoejoe1980 by punching out the idle adjustment cap on the throttle body and use a star socket to turn your idle up. Do you mean the little screw on the throttle body?
 
I had this same problem with my Nissan 300zx when i would be going and let off it would just die while I was still going I think it was my alternator or battery was bad.
 
I don't think it's my battery or alternator. They tends to work fine, never had a problem with them. I change new spark plugs and clean the throttle body, still have the same problem. I have no idea what's going on.
 
Remove your ISC from your throttle body and meter out the pins. I bet one of the coils is dead.
 
What is the proper way to test the pins on the ISC? I took it out, clean a little bit and put it back but didnt measure the pins. what's the range measurment on the pins?
 
Better yet take a log in DSMLink logging TPSRaw, TPSVolts, ISCPos, RPM, Front O2. Let it idle for a little bit then give a few blips of the throttle and post the log on here.
 
Here is ther log with a couple of blips, the idle drop very low and almost stall but bounce right up.

No the car has not been dynoed. I had the idling problem before I got DSMLink. Anybody know whats going on with the car. Please Help.
 
Sry cant help, My GSX was acting like that after i installed link and had it dynoed, the guy who did it said it will stop after a while and it did, haven't had a problem since. It was just the car sayin thanks for the abuse.
 
Forgot to include one thing because I forgot to ask. Just check it and let us know. Is your idleswitch at 1 or 0 at idle?
 
Come on DSM guru. Someone out here got to know what's going on. If anyone know anything or have any advice on how to cure this. It would be great.
 
Uh .. I thought only 1G's had idle switched??!?!?!

No sir because mine is broke. I had a wacky idle til I used link to simulate it.

khiabim you should use the DSMLink TPS adjustment wiki to adjust your tps to read .63v at idle.
 
I had the SAME problem with my car about 4 months ago. Was goin 60 mph and i put the car in neutral.... and the car just shut off. Idling was VERY low and had to keep the gas up even wen at a stop light or sign to keep the car on.

Turned out my Timing was off 40 degrees the shop said. My car idles PERFECT ever since. But it DID cost me $300. Freakin rip off. CHECK THE TIMING. Timing is very crucial and important in our cars. Btw my car was FASTER than a bat outta hell wen the timing was off. Is that "sort of" advanced timing??
 
Thanks for the advice. I'll try to adjust my idle tps to read .63volts. and will check out my timing. Hope tha will clear things up. Will check back later.
 
Anyone know how to check base timing on a 1998 gst with DSMLink? I have search and only find answer for 1g. I need to check my base timing to see if that's what giving me the idling problem.
 
I check my timing and the base timing seem to be correct. Its at 5* advance. But why my idle log show timing of jumping from 10-15 degree. Is that normal or something is not right?

Still have the idling problem. Any DSM guru out there know a slight idea whats going on.
