So the last time my car was running, I popped the dipstick out and sprayed oil all over the place, also forgot to put the oil cap on a few times (oops:coy:)
Anyway, my altenator is dirty as hell and I would like to clean it up a bit, especially since it still works! What do you guys suggest, I was thinking using a bit of lacquer thinner in a painting spray gun? Or maybe simple green, or acetone?

Thanks!

The windings are insulated with lacquer. Lacquer thinner would be bad.
Go with an electronics cleaner, from Radio Shack or the like.

We're a bit baffled how anyone could ever forget the oil cap more than once. WTF
