RPM's lower when I apply brakes

I noticed this just earlier today.... When I hit the brakes, my idle will lower by maybe 100 rpms. The lights also dim at the same time. It gets worse the harder I hit the brakes.
What could be the problem here?

really interesting b/c i noticed that when i apply breaks occasionally my radar detector will read "Low Volt". it has to be electrical obviously but it doesnt make sense that everything else would dim while the break lights go on

Our cars have a sucky alternator (65amps). It's really weak and they tend to go bad quickly due to their location. Oil, power steering fluid, and heat don't help the longevity of an alternator. You have a few options if it bugs you.

1. Buy a stock replacement. It might work better, might not.
2. Buy a direct replacement one with a higher amp rating.

looks like a pain, but thanks i think ill try looking for the saturn swap in the junk yards around here
