ok so here is the deal i have a 98 GST hardtop 5 speed.. well the thing is it had been in a crash, well the ppl i bought it from threw away the bumper and hood.. so i bought a hood from a buddy of mine and when i put it on you could tell it was hit harder then what i had thought.. ok thats not really the big deal because i know people who will do the frame work. But i need a radiator core support.. my question is, Do i have to use one off of a 98 gst? can i use one off of any 97'-99' eclipse or even possilbly 95-99?? i'll also need the peice that the bumper mounts to, a condenser and bumper asymbly... anyone know where i can get the best deal?

Any core support from a 95-99 eclipse/talon will work, regardless of whether it is turbo or not.

alright thanks!! thats what i thought but for some reason car-parts asked me what motor if it was turbo'd and if it had abs breaks.. i wasn't for sure so i thought why not ask.. thanks again!

You will need a rad support from a 95-99 GST or GSX. I would recommend to NOT go and try to find a used support. It is a pain to try and remove it perfectly, then reinstall it perfectly without damaging it. You can buy Aftermarket Radiator Supports but they are never made 100 percent to OEM specification and your front end will not line up correctly.

I totally recommend to get a full rad support from the dealership. If you are taking the car to a bodyshop, they should be able to locate one for you pretty easily.

1995-1999 GST or GSX w/o ABS: MB959299
1995-1999 GST or GSX w/ ABS: MR273840
1995-1999 RS, GS w/o ABS: MB959300
1995-1999 RS, GS w/ ABS: MB273841
1995-1999 GS, GST Spyder w/o ABS: MR959299
1995-1999 GS, GST Spyder w/ABS: MR273840

I pulled these part numbers from CAPS and as you can see, the rad support from the 95-99 turbo model eclipse/talon and all convertible eclipses use the same radiator support. The non turbo eclipses use different rad supports so do not try and use on of them on your turbo car. The rad support is different for the ABS and non ABS model vehicles which is due to the ABS mounting on the lt front side of the vehicle.

I hope this helps!

ok thanks for the numbers! they should help a lot.. do you think you could give me the numbers for a condesner for a 98 eclipse gst? i'll probably have to get all the bracketing for it to cause the guy who owned it b4 me threw everything away dumby.. i dont have CAPS..

o and i looked to see if i had abs but i'm not really sure cause the fuse box has a place marked for it.. but.. there was no fuse in its spot, so you do you guys think i do or do not have abs?

The Condenser part number is: MB899040.

I would recommend to get a new condenser from 1800 Radiator. You can call 1-800-723-4286. They are a lot cheaper than one from the dealer and they come with a lifetime warranty.

If there is no ABS fuse in the fusebox under the hood, then you do not have ABS.

Hope this all helps!

thanks.. acutally i ordered one from a place about an hour north of where i live so i should have it soon.. now its time to do a little bit of frame pulling and find a bumper.. not sure if i want to spend the money on a whole assembly yet or if i just want to put a cover..

o i guess i should get an exhaust to since the guy b4 me put i new pipe in and didnt put a bung in it so the o2 sensor is hanging out... any ideas? lookin for a deep sound, NO bee cans haha!

I personally have the Thermal catback and love it. It is a real nice deep sound and helps out a lot.

yea i looked that up, looks nice.. but kinda out of my price zone.. i was thinkin like $200 maybe 3...

Quality comes at a price. Thermal is actually one of the cheaper good catback exhaust systems.

The only thing you are going to find that cheap is either a used system, Megan racing or some cheap ebay stuff.

My advice would be to save up and purchase a decent exhaust.

well actually i dont have to buy the whole support, i just have to buy the middle core support, i'm talkin to a salvage yard in wis. and they think they might be able to get me all the parts i need.. i wish they'd hurry up and call me back thought i'd like to get it atleast put back together this week..

would it be a bad idea to but i used exhaust? i mean i'm not gonna buy a rusty p.o.s.
i dont really need to worry about and exhaust yet, but i'm tryin to figure out what i want to put on it for mods.. i'm not really sure which are the best, i'm just lookin to put some basic mods on it.. ideas?

haha ok i have crappy luck..
well i found an bumper assy and just when i went to finish the deal the guy called me and told me after he took it all off some dumb ### threw it away... well luckily he called back about 10 mins later and told me that they have another one sitting there, but its off a spyder, so my new question is, Is the Bumper assy the same off a spyder the same ass all the other bumpers for 97-99 eclipse??

Yes the front bumper assemblies are all the same for the spyders and non-spyders.

ok thanks, they ended up not sellin me that one cause there was a problem where the fog lights go.. so after waitin for 5 days for one place that kept tellin me they'd call me in a couple of hours to tell me if they had what i needed, i called another place and they think they've got everything so i bought it $250 for the assembly and $25 for one day shipping, i couldn't believe the price of shipping but thats what he said so thats what i paid.. it ended up savin me over $100 from the place that wouldn't call me back, and over $500 if i would have bought it from a dealership.. hopefully i'll get it on the frame machine in the next week or so

i am in the same situation. i have a 99 eclipse gst. my radiator support rusted out and now my crossmember for the transmission mount won't go back on because the nuts rusted out. all the supports i find say non-turbo. can i use a non turbo support? what are the differences?

i emailed him and am waiting on a response. does anyone know the difference between non turbo and turbo radiator supports. besides the ABS mount?

The non turbo core supports are different from the turbo units. The cross member beams that go between the k member and the core support are in different locations. I read this in a build thread last week. He put a non turbo one on his car just to find out he could not bolt up the beams. So he had to cut it off and start over. I just did this to the lower core support on my 1g TSI. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I have a Buddy that can weld and I did all the trimming. I cut the lower core support off of a donor car. I cut more than I needed so I could fine tune it to fit. I just took my time and keep trimming the car and the support to fit up together. The 2nd gens are way easier because there is a lot less to match up and weld and grind smooth.

There is some pictures of the core support in my build journal.
