 I'm going to have a year with this car in AUG,, crank walked 2nd day i bought it...6 months later rebuilt the ingine 3 days later car wouldnt start..now it has no fireing in cylinders 3 and 4 and the turning singal to the right wont turn off, PLEASE help me with this issue,, im not new to eclipses but i am new in the 4g63 engine, as far as i could read from other forums is that it could be the CAS of the Crank positioning sensor, or the ECU...IF ANY ONE can help me please do so....i have waited over a year to drive this car for more than 2 days... i kinda want tov:beatentodeath: to the guys who sold this car to me.....it has 50,ooo miles bought it for 75k my car is a 1997 Manual GST

To me this sounds like it could be two separate problems with the turn signal and no fire. I would check the turn signal unit to find out whether it is malfunctioning and possibly bad wiring, possible short? It would be ideal if you had another turn signal unit to swap in and test.

When you rebuilt the engine did you turn the crank or get a new one? did you replace the crank sensor? crank sensors are often destroyed by walking cranks and they will stop the car from firing or flowing fuel. Did you make sure you're clutch is adjusted properly and take off the clutch safety switch? The clutch work wont help it get fixed but it will help to stop crankwalk in the future especially removing the safety switch and starting the car without the clutch in.

What causes the chronic crank walk in the 7 bolt motor and how long will this occur before the engine is toast?

IMO aftermarket HP Pressure Plates. You don't seem to hear of stock cars doing it as often.

I just replied to about the same question on another forum so I'll just copy and paste what I said there.

btw crankwalk is a combination of things and happens with almost every consumer car on the market, it just happens frequently in 7-bolt dsms. The first and main reason it happens is a bad crank/bearing combination, mitsubishi had several and if you don't get them right you'll be walking within a few thousand miles, the second is low oil to center thrust bearings, there are a few solutions to this including making a "swiss cheese" bearing, but usually it isn't necessary. The last big reason is THE reason that cranks walk, the others are just what allows the problem to exist in the first place and that is improperly adjusted or monstrously overweight clutches. What happens is the clutches will gather spring energy over time from being improperly adjusted and start pushing on the crank, a particularly heavy clutch will make the problem worse. The most damaging part is starting the engine with the clutch fully in and pressure on the flywheel it is at this point that the center thrust bearing is receiving extreme pressure and no oil that does the most to create crankwalk.

Solutions:

1. Check that your clutch is well adjusted, pump your clutch 10-15 times then go under the car and see if you can push the slave cylinder rod in, if you can you have excess spring tension, go get your clutch replaced or adjusted.

2. Remove your clutch safety switch and start the engine with the clutch out and be careful not to lurch the car into anything.

3. Switch to an automatic.

Ok so here it goes ..im sorry for taking forever to post anything here, and i GREATLY appreciate the help you guys have given me, i found out after lots of test and waisted money on new parts that it was the Transistor or also know as the egnition control module, as far as the turning signal, it turned out to be that it had a 1/4 of an inch clip broken inside the turning switch mounted on the steering wheel column wich these cars are greatly known to have the same problem, so i did a fix to it myself by inserting i nail that matched the size of the broken 1/4 inch peice of plastic, it was really easy just drill a hole and inser screw/nail, and make sure its in the little rail and it works AWESOME better yet I saved $90 and this clip is made of metal so it probably wont break again, (if you need help on fixing that annoying turning signal that wont shut off, hit me up at [email protected] and i'll tell you in detail how to fix it) i put in the new transistor tomorrow, so i'll post once i plug it in.....i did take off the ecu but it was spotless clean, chekced fuel filter, upgraded fuel pump, checked injectors, put it new wires and NGK plugs, swaped out the coil pack till i finally narrowed it down to the transistor wich is located in the front of the intake manifold just under ## fuel rail.:sneaky: ....:D
