Ok i have tried reading up on the whole coil over, struts, lowering springs thing so i thought i would just ask since i am still confused. So i know this guy that has KYB AGX Adjustable Struts for sale for $250. I am not looking to spend $800-1000 for coil overs. So what i was wondering was can i buy the megan racing lowering springs on extremepsi.com for $110 and put them on these struts and install them in my car or is there more to it? And would this be worth it to do performance wise? I go to the track once every few months so it would be more to lower it but i would also want that extra performance. Does this sound like a good setup for around $360?

I think it would be just decent.. KYB AGX's are good shocks but I would h&r for springs..

thats just me though..

You can get h&r for about $260 and eibach usually run about $280-$320 from what i have seen, and yes you will need to get bushings and bump stops and washers... Im gonna guess your still riding stock shocks and springs... Does it rattle at all or sound worn out??
If not you can re use those parts... Check the mounting plates if you plan on doing the swap yourself, sometimes the mounting plates on the shocks like to rust especially on the 2G's on the front that is... I just went ahead and purchased new suspension components so i can ride like new again but thats totally up to you!!!

ok so is i got those spings i would have a pretty good setup performance wise? and i was thinking about doing it myself but how hard is it because i have never done suspension work so i am kinda in the dark

eibach is more of a softer and comfortable ride, doesnt lower the car too much so it does not sacrifice ride quality a lot.. the drop is 1.25 in the front and 1.0 in the rear.. h&r lower the car a bit more 1.8/1.7 a little rougher on bumps but can really take a corner just tightens up and corners like a charm.. i have used both springs in a few different cars..

As far as doing it yourself if you have an idea or some mechanical background it shouldnt be that hard... as long as the bolts come out easy and all goes well it should be a quick job usually i do em about 45 mins a corner.. you ll need a spring compressor of some sort whether its hydraulic or manual or take your shocks to a shop who can un compress them for you,,, unless you plan on buying new suspenison components then you wont need to re-use any of the parts

I just got my laser and it has the megan springs, a little too low for my taste and I may try and sell them for some Eibach or H&Rs myself but they do handle nice. I will probably get some Koni or Tokicos since the shocks feel pretty crappy at this point. But I agree with the above if you can swing the money go with an Eibach or H&R then you can go over bumps and not fly across the car haha.

I want to hear more about people with the megans as well!Im tempted to but them from extremepsi as well for my 1G FWD.I got out on the weekends and do some canyon runs so I really am looking for performance.I went out on my stock suspension and its no good!

Ok, I didn't want to start a whole new thread so a little CPR and this one is alive.

I notice that the Meagan springs are a 2" drop. But they are quite a bit cheaper than some of the other springs. I need new struts so I was thinking of getting the GR-2's paired with the Meagan 2" drop will that be ok?

I do want to get the wheel gap taken care of but I refuse to get bigger wheels. I like my 16" rims and Im just wondering if the GR-2's (kyb) will be good enough for the 2" drop?

Please help would be great!

I'v heard from a few people that the gr-2's are not that good for a lowered car. Look into the AGX's.

My set up is with KYB-AGX and Eibach ProKit springs. Love the set up. Not so low as to drag the bottom of the car and worry about speed bumps. TIP of the day...no matter what springs you go with. MAKE sure you cut the bump stops per the instructions of the spring manufacturer. Eibach provides a very nice instruction sheet on how much to cut. This has to be done when you put lowered springs on, so that you get the proper range of bump/rebound from the dampers on you struts front and rear. If you fail to do the cut, you'll bottom out your damper and cause internal damage to them.
