ok was wondering what the difference would be from a turbo head and the n/t head ,other than the cams .both are 2.0l heads

The 1g N/T and turbo heads are exactly the same, except that the N/T heads in 90-92 had a smaller intake cam but same exhaust and in 93-94 the exhuast cam and intake cam were both larger in the turbo head than the N/T.

To elaborate. . . The 1990-1994 a/t turbo exhaust cam is small and so is the intake cam. The 1993-1994 turbo m/t intake cam and exhaust cam is biggest. Much more duration and a bit more lift than the a/t version. Basically:

1. All 4g63n/t cams are the same: 252/244 duration at the begining of the lobe (like advertized duration)
2. All a/t turbo cams are the same 244/244 duration
3. 1993-1994 turbo m/t cams had 252/252 duration and the slightly higher lift
4. All 244 duration cams have a bit less lift than 252 duration cams
5. The m/t intake cam has the same duration but is 5 degrees more advanced. Running a n/t intake cam with 1993-94 exhaust cam is like using an adjustable cam gear and dialing in faster spool and way more low and mid range. But you will see a lossup top where a typical 14b and stock turbo motor will shine, around 6K.
6. All 2g cams are the same 252/252 duration same timing as 1993-94 cams and SLIGHTLY less lift.

Best is the 1993-1994 cams. Better than that is 1993-94 cams with a little exhaust cam retard, if you're running a healthy size turbo, 16g or bigger.

:)really good advice thanks, just picked up a head from a 92 n/t 2.0l ,taking it to machine shop in the morning ,to have it checked out ,then hopefully that fixes my overheating issue once I get it put on .parts are easy for me to get at the local scrap yard and not to expensive ,only $40.00 for the head LOL.

droped the head off to the machine shop ,it checked out good ,so I wanted a 5 angle valve job new guides and oil seals ,they quoted me at $556.00 which I think is a little much ,so new oil seals only ,then I will give it a try, he looked up the valves in the book and they are the same as the turbo valves which is nice to know

My car is in a fail safe mode and won't shift. It gets stuck in 3rd gear. If anyone would be able to help me out with this i would really appreciate it.
