I recently posted about my turbo not spooling. The car is far from me so I cant really check it myslef but a buddy of mine said that the exhaust manifold had some big cracks in it and that one of the bold to the head was very loose. Could this be the cause for the turbo not to spool. My buddy says that there is hardly any shaft play. Mabey a 1/8 of an inch in and out. Thanks

It will still spool with cracks in the exhaust manifold. Check to see if the wastegate actuator arm is connected to the wastegate flapper.

it will still spool just not as fast or put out as much boost. the cracks are letting the exhaust out and not pushing it past the turbo, same with the bolt thats loose. and someone correct me if im wrong but there should be ZERO in and out shaft play

I guess the turbo is blown. I have tried disconnecting the flapper and had it wired to stay iether always open or always closed and no luck. This is just a new divelopment and thought mabey that could be the cause. An exhaust manifold is cheaper than a turbo.
Thank for your input
