Reverse!!

ok so recently everytime i go to put my car into reverse it wont go all the way in gear or it grinds and it takes like 5 minutes just to get it into gear it also does this in first some times to?
what could this be?
because it only does it randomly and usually it happens like once or twice a day then its fine the rest of the time
help??

my gsx dose that to me too. I found that if I put it into second and then reverse it gets into gear better, it will not grind or pop out of gear half as much.

yeah thats what i do too
but i just didnt know if my trans is goin bad or is it something ealse

sounds like the clutch isnt disengaging all the way

I do not know about a fix for it. Ill be changing the tranny fluid soon. Im not sure if that will help. I will let you know.

My Talon does that too...I dont know why though

maybe the syncro's in the tranny

yeah i changed my tranny fluid yesterday but then today i went to leave and it did it so idk
im just worried dont have money for a tranny

Me too.
There could be a few causes, mine is just an old tranny. But it could also be poor clutch disengagement, low tranny fluid, worn synchros...

The 2nd to reverse tricks works ok, but the next time, when the gear doesn't go all the way in while still tugging lightly on the shifter slowly let the clutch out, and if your situation is anything like mine, it should pull it into reverse for you.

I know it sounds odd, but even some of the wisemen on this board have to do that for reverse to be effective.

Mine does that in reverse as well sometimes, just have to wiggle and jank it into place. Occasionally (once every 3-4 days) it will not go into first when at a red light or whatever. If this happens I find if I just put it into second I can then put it into first, for whatever reason. When this happens, this will rarely not solve the problem, which leads to the always fun second gear start from a dead stop.

any of your other gears doing the same thing?
might be your clutch or transmission synchro.
Or mabye just the old transmission
come by the house and ill take a look at it for ya
