Engine compartment clean up

Hey guys,

I'm trying to clean up my engine compartment of all of the unneeded components. My car is a 92 AWD Talon. I am running DSM link and a 3" GM MAF. I've already eliminated the ABS and the cruise. I am going the keep the A/C. There seems to be alot of sensors and vacuum lines that are just disconnected. The question is, what do I have to keep? I bought this car this way, so basicly i'm just trying to repair/finish what the prior owner started. Thanks for any info in advance.

Here's a diagram for if you want to get rid of emissions (if it's legal, or if you "know" someone). This will eliminate a good bit of vacuum lines and then you can probably get rid of the sensors as well since you have DSMlink.

So the 3 solenoids up on the firewall can be eliminated? This car does not have to go through emissions so I'm not worried about that. I'm just trying to get rid of the mess under the hood.

You can try. I don't have any solenoids, but I have a 2g. You can definitely remove the vacuum lines (as shown in the link). Just unplug a solenoid while it's running and see what happens. You may have to turn off the check for it in the DTC's selection in DSMlink (under ECU).

Thank you. It will not be running probably until next year. I guess I'll have to wait until then. Thanks again, this gives me a few more things to do while I wait for more parts.

Those solenoids can be removed from a 1g. Also remove any wires that are not needed. For example, the connector and wiring going to the connector of any sensor you eliminate.

That was the plan. Remove and elliminate every sensor, solenoid and wire that is not needed. This car is probably going to just be a track day car for me, so I want to keep it as simple as possible. The only reason I'm leaving the A/C is it gets hot in a fire suit, . To tell you guys the truth, I really didn't know what to do with this car, so I guess this is the direction I'm going to take it.
