la pocatiere,
what is exactly speed density? its an other system without maf, and its map ?? i dont really understand! how much does it cost for a speed density setup and is it better than a maft and gm maf??

Speed Density is pretty much centered around the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor which basically calculates the amount of airflow the engine is ingesting from data collected from other sensors, as opposed to a traditional airflow meter system that actually measures the incoming air.

Search for DSMap and you'll find more information about it. It has its advantages and disadvantages, much like running a MAF-T and GM airflow sensor.

Speed density calculates the airflow based on your manifold pressure and the intake air temperature. If you have an EPROM setup in your 1g check out DS-MAP.NET and do a lot of reading. All told it cost me $400 or so to get going on mine.

Edit: That includes my JAW wideband O2 unit, 02 sensor, IAT sensor, 3 bar MAP sensor, Ostrich 2.0, and various odds and ends.

ok but i have dsmlink, and ds map is like a dsm a little bit, so i canot run both?? i think its possible to run a speed density setup with dsmlink, is it a good choice or i better go with maft and gm maf

You can't run speed density with link, well you can in a sense, but not true speed density. Just stick with link if you already have it, if you are over running your 1g mas, and don't want a 2g mas get a gm maf, it will work fine if you calibrate it correctly. As a bonus using the gm maf free's up inputs for you ECU since you have a 1g.
