I would like to get a built tranny for my 93 talon tsi Awd. I still have the 7bolt motor in it and it's running strong. My question is: If I put a new tranny in, and later on decide to do a built 6-bolt swap will it work (with a 6-bolt flywheel of coarse)?

At 103k, It didn,t realy walk. The sproket on the end of the crank walked off the crank taking the cam angle sensor with it. Making the symtoms of crankwalk. But I already took it all apart so I 6 bolted it.

Very rare will a 7 bolt walk at 100k. Most have already because they have 60k or more on them. 1g 7 bolts don't suffer from walk. I have read it is just the 2g 7 bolts. And it is soooo over rated. I had 170 compression on each cyl at 104k and the crank and block are sitting in my spare room and it doesnt move a millimeter. I could of thrown it back on and I would of been fine.

Alright cool, thanks guys. Yea I heard about 2g 7bolts walking alot more than 1gs. My 7 bolt has 96k and I don't plan on running more than 15 psi. Id like to take it to the track after it gets tuned, but 3rd gear grinds at high rpm and the only thing I have left to replace in the clutch system is the clutch. So if a ACT2600 doesn't solve the problem, I guess its time for a built trans.

Try checking your cables and check the petal adjustment. Those can easily make things grind. A clutch won't solve a gring. Check your trans fluid and maybe try putting in some BG synchromesh or Penzoil synchromesh(found at advanced). That can help the trans out for a bit.

While the clutch is out make sure to replace the throw out bearing with a OEM one not the one that comes with you 2600. Also check the ball and fork. Most of this info can be found at vfaq.com.

I checked the cables, welded the clutch assembly because there was alot of play, made the pedal adjustment, replaced the master and slave and bled it out properly, changed the tranny fluid with penzoil synchromesh, changed the t-case, and rear diff fluid.

I'll be sure to replace the TOB with an OEM one, and check the ball and fork. Thanks for the info.
