ok so what the difference in the blocks between the years 90-94? i know they are 6 bolt apposed to the 95-99 7 bolt. But how car i tell what year my 6 bolt is? and what year do i want to use in a 6 bolt swap? what is the difference in the internals? if any???

90-mid 92's have the 6 bolts. 92.5-94 have 1g 7 bolts. Obviously you would have to use the actual 90-92.5 6bolt. As far as finding out what year it came from only thing I can tell you is that if its a 90 it'll have the different 90' throttle body on the intake mani.

Tell me do the 90 - 92 6bolts engines work on the 2g or can you only use the 93 an 94 engines for the swap??

yes you can use the 6bolt for a 2g swap its very common in fact its a smart thing to do when upgrading your old engine. heres a site that supplies the first complete write-up of how to do one of the most talked about swaps in the DSM world. The 6-bolt motor into the second generation (95-99) eclipse. :talon:

the internals are slightly different but the main factor is it is less likely to crankwalk and the rods are better. The pistons are slightly lower compression than that of the 7 bolt.

Yea I know that I just walked mine. I'm putting a new 94 engine I'm having built. I was wondering if you can do the same with the 90 -92 ones as you can do with the 93 an 94 engines. I was told only 93 an 94 but there 7 bolt an not 6bolt an the one I'm getting done is a 6 bolt, so I'm really confused.
