The oil and smoke are likely both the same problem. Replace your oil filler cap... really its just the rubber gasket, but those may be hard to find by themselves. But the smoke could be a sign of your turbo giving out.

There is no temporrary fix for a bad turbo. You will have to rebuild it or replace it. Its not hard to swap a turbo, its just 7 or 8 bolts with a couple oil lines and a water line to disconnect/reconnect. The hardest part is the rusty bolts in the O2 housing and Turbo to Manifold studs. Do yourself a favor and get some liquid wrench or PBlaster to loosten them up and let that stuff soak for a couple hours after really dousing every bolt. Even after that you will probably have one stuck and break it, so you might want to spent $30 on some stainless steel bolts and not have to worry about them again. Dont forget a couple new gaskets and you should be able to do the swap in one afternoon.

Your valve cover problem could be the spark plug seals. Also check the oil cap too like was mentioned. Just buy a new valve cover gasket set from your local auto store and replace it. Of course with 200,000 on the motor it would prob. be best to rebuild or a new"er" motor.

If your turbo has excessive shaft play its time for a new one. You can find stock T-25 turbo's in the classifieds or if you want to go with the 14b make sure you get a 2g install kit such as: Road Race Engineering's 2G 16-G Turbo Install Kits and Parts

Iam not sure SOMEONE CORRECT ME if iam wrong but a t28 fits on there with no mods as long as you keep the boost down to under 15 psi you will have a lil bit of an up grade and it should be just the swap of the turbo...

Oh I had the same problem with the oil on the valve cover and if you are blowing that much oil out then its collecting on top of your spark plugs and likely gonna ruin the spark plug wires. I had to suck the oil off the plugs and went ahead and replaced the plugs and wires with a whole new valve cover gasket set and a new oil cap. No more oil puddles on my valve cover.

The whole valve cover gasket replacement set is only $30 or so and you have already spent that much on oil in a month or two so go ahead and replace all the valve cover gaskets and the cap at once.

what kinda of price are you looking to pay.... 14b's are cheap to find so are t-25's do you want to go a lil bit bigger while you are messing around with it, or just looking to keep it as a daily driver?

cold start issue could be bad thermostat sensor, or related to all the oil over your plugs/wires. Also it could be your front o2 sensor, when mine was bad i would have to crank it for 20seconds or so and then it would catch, with the new o2 sensor it starts up everytime with no hessitation.

IMO if you have this many questions it might not be wise to look to "upgrade" your turbo unless you are mechanically inclined and purchase supporting mods soon. Find a cheap t-25 in the classifieds and just swap it in.

One more thing, buy a new set of manifold to turbo bolts from mitsu, I've heard bad things about arp stainless turbo bolts, and nothing bad about OEM. When in doubt, go OEM :thumb:
