I have three questions.

1. Is it ok to have the knock sensor grounded anywhere it fits on the back of the block or is there some place special it has to be? And the block is non turbo but I put a turbo engine harness on the car and I can't find the plug for the knock sensor...
2. The oil pan I got all bolts off but there is one bolt under the passenger side CV shaft and I don't think I can get to it without taking the CV out is there any way around it?
3. I bought a new K&N oil filter Gold or w/e for the turbo oil filter bracket however it is not the same size as the stock oil filter should I buy a stock oil filter from Napa or AutoZone/advanced or something? Or use the K&N?

1) Yes it's okay to have about anywhere. The owner of J&S safegurd ( stand alone knock sensor sytems) says that anywhere along the bottome edge of the block (oil pan mating surface) is a good place to put it because it's dense and connected directly over to the crank mains (this not olny keeps "hollow sounds" from being interpreted by the sensor, but the solid mass from the crank area to where the KS is allows for a better transfer of sound to the KS.

2.) Use a 1/4 ratchet with a wobbly attatchment and a short 10mm socket on th eend of a 6 inch or so extension to get the one under the CV joint (you can do it, it's jsut one of those cases where you need the right tool for the job)

3.) As long as the threads are correct and the sealing o-ring/surface is of the right size and placement you'll be fine. You can use a 2g or 1g filter on either car and there's a HUGE size diffrence between them. It's smarter to use teh larger one i would think. (more area of filter element and possibly better flow through it...would be my 2 guesses anyway)

Ok thanks allot I would like more opinions on the oil filter though and also shouldn’t my knock sensor plug right into my turbo engine harness I took it out of a 92-94 AWD talon turbo but I cant find the plug...

No trying to be a smartass but how does grounding it closer to the crank make it better considering its a Piezo crystal in the knock sensor that when pressure is exerted upon it it releases electricity. I would thing that the ground wouldnt matter as long as its clean due to its only completing the electrical "chain". But perhaps Im missing something...Im always down to learn new stuff.

Also just a little FYI the oil filter is only used at idle or whenever its under 10psi, there are bypasses that when the pressure is higher then +/- 10psi the oil is routed around the filter due to the amount of pressure would blow the filter right off.

I didn't mean where to ground it, i was talking about where to mount it. My bad if i was talking about the wrong thing. But mounting it along the "ridge" at the bottom of the motor where teh crank journals extend from is said to transfer noise more effectively and not pick up so much piston slap when mounted down there. I have no proof of this, just going off the things told to me by Jon Pizzuto of J&S knock sensor glory.

From the best i remember when you screw in teh sensor that grounds it, so i just put ground and mounting into one category, correct me if i'm wrong

Good info about the filter, definitely something i didn't know :)

For NEx, as far as the filter, i have used both 1g and 2g filters on my 6 bolt in my 2g body, really as long as it threads on and seals up youll be fine. If it said it was for your car, but was just slightly larger iwouldn't worry about it, slap it on and go. But i haven't heard too much good about the K&N oil filter, anyone know of any tests or anything that weren't "sponsored" by K&N?

Ok thanks but I still don’t have any clue where the plug that is at the end the wire from the knock sensor goes it won’t fit into any plug and I know I have the turbo harness.

So can anyone show me a picture or something or explain so I can use my knock sensor. I cant find the plug that fits it.
