Ok, so I removed my emissions vac hoses last summer, but never got around to removing the solenoids until today. I figured I could use the various solenoids I didnt need anymore so I sat down with a 9V battery, two leads, a vac hose with a make shift mouthpiece, and the boost control solenoid (BCS), purge control solenoid (PCS), and the fuel pressure solenoid (FPCS) to check them out.

By connecting the vac line with makeshift mouthpiece to the nipples on the solenoid and blowing into the moutpiece, I could find when the solenoid valves were open and closed. I found that the BCS is closed until I connected the 9V leads, then it opened. The PCS is the opposite, it was open until I connected the leads in which case it closed.

Now what I had questions about was the fuel pressure control solenoid. See, both of the PCS and BCS have only two nipples, whereas the FPCS has three. I put my vac line and mouthpiece on the bottom nipple (the nipple normally hidden under the the FPCS while its on the car) and blew. Air came out of the nipple sticking out the side of the solenoid cylinder, which is the one pointing staight up while its on the car. So then I hooked the leads up and the valve just plain closed, no air coming from either of the nipples not hooked up to my vac hose and mouthpiece. So now for the question... what is the nipple that normally has that black cap on it for? Air never came out of it, and nothing happened when I hooked the vac hose up to that one. If its not a three way solenoid, why is it even there? Or do I need more electrical power to switch it to that nipple? I would have tried, but I have no more batteries. Any info would be awesome, thanks guys.
 
Oops, nevermind. I must've not had a lead properly connected while testing. What I've found is that if I stick the vac line and mouthpiece on the nipple that sticks straight up when normally on the car and blow, with no leads connected the air comes out of the bottom (the line that is normally hidden) and when the leads are connected the air comes out of the top (where the black cap is normally). Sorry for the posts, if a mod wants to lock/delete this thread it serves no purpose to me now.
