I was reading a recent post about someone posting pictures of his newly installed timing belt so everyone could rechek his work. Well i`m at that point where i feel kinda confident but i still wanna have another eye double check me. So i`ll post my two pictures of my timing belt install (two pictures being one of the cam gears and also one of the rest of the motor of course and sorry the pictures are not that great) And if i get this right i can finally drop my engine in. So please if anyone can just take a look at it for me, (im a total newbie when it comes to doing timing belts on DSMs) i would greatly appreciate it!

*hopefully my pictures came out ok LOL

After much thought...i think my motor`s timing is ok....but should i do a compression test by just taking a rachet and just spin the crank and making sure all the compression numbers for all the cylinders are constant? i know i wont see high numbers due to the lack of speed of the crank spinning but if i get constant compression numbers then i would be abel to see if the valves are closing and opening at the right times?

The timing marks look correct, the auto tensioner looks in range, so the outstanding question is did you check the phasing of the lower balance shaft?

You won't get much from a compression check when turning it by hand. Since the cams and crank look in time do you have any reason to believe the head or block are damaged to cause low compression?

No i actually dont Steve....im just double checking myself b/c the fact that i`ve never done a timing belt on a dsm before...let alone one with an auto tensioner on it...and i dont believe the head nor the block is damaged i actually did check it for see if there were any dips or valleys on the top of the block and head and everything was spot on....so i guess you answered my question and put my worried to rest LOL And yes to answer your question about the lower balance chaft its all in phase and ready to go so i`m confident in that. Thanx a lot Steve!
