So I found a 95 talon tsi fwd ecu for sale, I was wondering if this ecu would be interchangable for my 97 eclipse gst. does it matter if its an automatic or manual? Want to make sure before I buy.

It will not work because of the CAS your 97 has that the 95 does not have, unless someone knows how to modify the 97 wiring for a 95 ecu. Also, automatic to manual ECU's are the same.

This is called a CAS Inversion. You can use a 95 ECU in a 97 car. Here is a little info about it...

Cam/CAS Inversion - This feature is necessary when using the 1995 ECU on a 1997+ car, or if you have done a 6-bolt swap. The 97+ and 1G sensors put out an inverted CAS signal, which changes the injector firing order. This CAS Inversion fixes the injector issue, but you still need to swap plug wires 1&2, and 3&4 if you have a 1997+ car, or have done a 1G 6-bolt swap.

I'm sure you can google it, or search the forums for more info.
