I recently pulled my motor and had the head off. I bought new brian crower 272 cams and fidanza cam gears. I installed the exhaust cam and turned it manually with a rachet and when the right valves open the ones that should be closed stay open about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch. All the parts of the head are off a stock 7 bolt, nothing replaced in the build except for the cams. What could cause the valves to stay open when they shouldnt?

I thought that 2g's had softer valve springs than 1g's. I know on 1g's that 272s are okay with stock springs as long as your not running in the mid 7k mark but they are reccomended to upgrade.

u need to collapse the lifters put them in a vise between two pieces of wood and close the vise slowly till the lifter collapses one at a time and remember slowly

if your that worried about the Lifters buy new ones they are not that exspensive.

I have fp2's (272's) in my car with stock springs. I rev to 8k without a hint of valve float. Sometimes it goes higher than that since my limiter is set at 8250. Just so you know for the future.
