Im currently trying to get the backlight wired up on my boost gauge. i heard from somewhere that you can actually tap the fuse box down by the pedals as a source. has anyone done this or know how to?

just wire the ground anywhere and the 12v posative to a light on the dash that lights up when you turn on the headlights. or to be on even if headlights are not on, wire it to the cigarette lighter.

you can wire it pretty much anywhere, but if you do want to go from the fusebox thats fine too, just get a test light and see which fuses are on with the key turned to on, and then strip the wire and stick the fuse back in which holds the wire, or you can also buy a solderless connector that acctually fits into a fuse slot...i'd also recommend the cigerette lighter though, that way you can dim it and such....just my .02

you can tap into the positive parking light wire down beside the fuse box- the wire color is green with a white stripe/tracer. or you could just use a switched ignition if you wanted it on when you turned the key on, it should be blue with a black stripe/tracer at the ignition switch harness.

If you want specifics, I'm using the fuse right next to the cigar lighter, on its right. On the fuse cover it's labelled as ELC-4 (10A). IDK if the fuse box is similar on the 1Gs.

Ok, i got it wired up. I think the fuse i finally ended up using was the horn and headlight relay. the gauge lights up when i turn the ignition on. it is quite bright though.
