This is my first dsm build and no im not some kid dreaming i need help with a real build.

Everything thats marked done is already on my current motor, having problems with my motor so im debating since my house is pending sale (aka waiting for paperwork to clear) starting from scratch with a new block. I want to be able to drive it daily and to be able to crank up the turbo and put out huge numbers. Personally i dont think thats too rediculous to ask considdering some of the turbo cars ive seen that are capable of large numbers correct me if im wrong. Any advice on anything i have listed or other parts im going to need and also any advice on the turbo or a better one? This is the first dsm ive built had several other toys including a 600hp chevelle and a 656hp z06 vette, just got a bug up my ass about building a 4cyl with big hp. Also has anybody played with nos on these cars and have any advice about running a direct spray kit and a intercooler kit?? Another question has anybody done an awd conversion to a gst?

Anybody got any estimates on hp#'s

These motors are definitely capable of 600 whp+, especially with forged internals. For fuel go with a Walbro 255 and you'll need an AFPR to go with it. For tuning, definitely pick up DSMLink - there's nothing that compares to it. Also, in your list add an external wastegate. Good luck with the build and keep us updated!

Also, I'm not sure of the username (maybe a fellow dsmer could help me out) but he ran really good numbers on the stock T-25 turbo with nitrous. Can't think of his name off the top of my head though

Nitrous might be a cheaper option, I have no experience with it so I'm not much help. Most DSMers just throw on a big turbo and call it a day. ;)

I think he wants to do an awd to fwd conversion?

Nevermind I misread the post.

It can do 0-600+ hp, depends on the tune and if the motor lets go due to someone not putting it together right, breaking it in, etc...

To due an awd conversion...
search there is atleast 10 topic a week asking how to.

Look at you car and an awd car, the trans, tcase, rear end, front cross member, suspension and gas tank youll need, that is a short list, you might as well buy an awd roller and build that cause youll need one to due the swap.

Engine managment go dsm link for 600 dsmap for 350? or go aem standalone for 2k.

I would ditch the 750 and get 850 or 1150 fic.

Youll need more than 1 walboro 255-hp to get more than 600 hp

Ditch the 1g throtle body and get a 70mm mustang throttle body or a q45? one.

The turbo dunno, if it will make more than 600, id go with a gt35r or an s366 or what ever its called. Of course you got fp red and green 50 trims.

If you plan on making lots of power 400+ you will need to spend some money on the trans and get an lsd if you wanna stay front drive, awd front diff is optional.

But you will need to build the trans to make it hold more than 500 hp.

We don't do bench-racing here. No one can give you a horsepower number based on a mod list. Period.

Sure you can make a GST into a GSX. And you can make it RWD. You can make it twin-engined, you can make it twin-charged, and you can probably make it mid-engine, RWD, supercharged, with a Chevy 350. What's stopping you? Or anyone? But yes, this topic only comes up about once a week, and the answer is always the same. And the path to do so has been pretty well documented.

DSMLink or AEM would be the way you want to go with the numbers you're looking for. Also, the FP exhaust manifold would be better than the SBR cast mani, and a tubular (e.g. Shearer) would be even better. Check out ForcedPerformance's website for some better turbo choices than the Bullseye 60-1 also. Some better choices have already been mentioned. For some ideas on what is necessary to get the numbers you're looking for, check they dyno sheet page on this site, look for the numbers you're wanting, and click on those members' profiles to see what they have done to their car. Compare your current wish-list to what they have, and make the necessary alterations.

Good luck and keep us posted.

dsm link better than running haltechs standalone? everything that i havnt already done was from reading through here and some of the turbo testes and system builds and its not really a wish list its a what do i need list thanks for the help though like i said this is my first dsm and trying to do it right the first time instead of doing it over and over and over LOL

Almost everyone who's ever used DSMLink will suggest it for about 90% of the DSM world. And if DSMLink isn't enough, then AEM is the next choice. I don't know of any DSM'er using Haltech anymore. I think before the advent of Link and AEM it may have been the only option for a standalone, but now there are other options. DSMLink is probably the most user friendly progam and comes with some of the best customer support in the DSM world, but it does lack a few things. AEM covers the rest of it, but tends to be harder to use. There are still plenty of DSM'ers who use it regularly enough that you can get help with it if you needed. On the other hand, if you came to this site with a log from a Haltech and asked how to adjust things, it might be a while before someone could answer your questions.

dsm link better than running haltechs standalone?

It depends on what your preferences are. Like what is "better" in your mind exactly? Something that is easy to tune or something that gives you control over every little inch of engine management?

What do you mean by this? DSMLink is definitely way easier to tune and will also essentially drop in (the only thing you might need to change is to swap the old ECU out with the new EPROM ECU). The Haltech will probably have to be rewired. As far as standalones go, the AEM is probably a much better choice but will still be a lot more to learn if you want to be able to tune it.
