Courtice,
So i rebuilt my cyl head and fired it up but the cam marks didnt like up EXACTLY but was decent. took it for a ride and drove ok. but the belt was loose after i drove it WTF and so ive just ordered a new tensioner and was wondering if i should replace the tensioner pully, and or idler pully.. could these also play a role in my loose timing belt?

thanks everyone :thumb:

What do you mean the best is loose? The cams are loaded by the valve springs. Depending on the rotation of the engine, at any particular position the timing belt can feel either a little loose, or a little tight, between the cam gears (if this is what you're talking about).

i bought mine from the local parts store and it was about 90. just make sure not drive it with that junky tensioner i made that mistake ### i just bought the car and then bent a few valves....not fun at all. and be sure to double check when setting your timing

yea i replaced it, costed 100. but was worth it :thumb:
thanks

You're going to need the special tools to fix it properly as per the factory service manual. I had a loose timing belt because my tensioner pulley bolt vibrated loose, probably from improper torque or something stupid. Just check that and follow the factory service manual. That vfaq.com page is almost identical to the manual.
