I have been hearing that the crankwalk only happens on the turbo modles becasue of the different engine. so im guessing the crankwalk wouldnt happen to a 2g talon with a 420a engine with a turbo. am i right or do i still have to worry about a crankwalk???

Crankwalk can occur on any car its not DSM specific. 7 bolt 4g63's unfortunately have had the most occurrences of it in the DSM community.

I wouldn't worry too much about it on the 420a motor. What you need to watch for however would be your oil pressure; 420a motors were notorious for losing pressure and spinning bearings when i had my NT.

crank walk occurs on 7 bolt 4g63. so you should be good to go w/ a turbo conversion on a 420a

Thanks for perpetuating the misinformation. Crankwalk was only a problem on a VERY SMALL number of early 2g 7bolt motors.... and like I said.... VERY SMALL NUMBER.

Any car can crank walk. There are plenty of 7bolts in my area that are making PLENTY of power... and one even has 230,000 on the original motor...

WTF so, let's not spread any more rumors here.

Same problem with my ex's car... that thing was a piece! They don't have a stock oil pressure gauge do they? I cannot remember.

No the 2gnt's do not have a stock oil pressure gauge, just the standard dummy light. By the time that light comes on you're already screwed in most cases.

the 420a's do get awesome gas mileage though!

i was not trying to spread a lie:shhh:. i know that all cars can crank walk. i was making a generalization. as the 7 bolts are the most notorious for it.

Its caused by the premature failure of the thrust bearings and or it being out of spec/round or not to manufactured spec non failure limits.

crankwalk would be the last thing to go wrong with a turbo 420a

^^ Not when you have a 99 7bolt = sex :D

not necessarily, the crappy thrust bearing was still used in 99
