okay when i bought my car off my friend, the fans did not work. and the car overheats ALOT. it takes roughly 10 mins to drive my car to school from home and when i pull in the parking lot, its steaming up. its embarassing really.

so i got a new radiator, radiator hoses, 2 new slimfans, a new cap and flushed/refilled the whole cooling system. and HG was replaced not long ago.

the problem is that my fan wires are not getting any power. ive searched around the forum and found posts about wiring a aftermarket fan. and my fans were not turning on even if the engine WAS hot. so i got a voltage tester and no power to any of the 8 wires(radiator/condensor HI/LO fan wires). what do i do? is there an alternative power source i can tap my fans into? any help is appreciated!

have you checked for any blown fuses at all? have you checked anything else? if your fans are not getting power you could always run power and ground wires to them and put a switch on them.

yes thats what i need to find out. where to tap my fan wires to. an alternative Power source. there is one fuse blown in my car but its for the ABS

if you use a switch to them on and off, you can get the power directly from the battery.

switching them on and off will become very annoying, fast. I had the same problem in an other car and it was the fuses. Try them first because you will not like switching and unswitching, and remembering
when to do so.

which fuse should i look for?

If stock wiring it won't be the fuse since that's the 30A one on the ignition switch so hardly anything would work. It's most likely a bad wire/connection, relay, ECU, or #1 suspect: bad engine coolant temp sensor (2 wire one) since that tells the ECU when to turn fans on. Unplug the sensor and short the 2 harness wires together for awhile to see if ECU will turn fans on. If it does, your sensor is bad.

If not, check if the fans will even go on by removing one of the fan relays and shorting the top 2 pins together in the socket (should look like an upside down T). If they don't you've got a wiring problem since this should have connected them to the battery thru the 30A fuse. You may have to try all the relay sockets depending on which wires they used. (If they used all the fan wires any relay should turn them on). Also check if they are wired correctly: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/problem-diagnosis/261629-fans-running-all-time.html.

If all else fails you can always wire them to go on while engine running: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/new...tion-so-fans-come-when-car.html#post151391082
