[RESOLVED] what did i break? (pic)

That is NOT a COOLANT TEMP SENSOR!!! It is the A/C fan switch...and you broke it good! The a/c fan switch is in the upper t-stat housing and the coolant temp sensors are in the bottom housing (along with the thermo vacuum valve that is pictured above).

Its the ac fan switch.

I agree. But y r there vacume lines hooked to that thing. My old 1'st gen had that broken but the a/c worked just fine?

There are no vacuum lines hooked to it. I guess I will also attach a pick with the broken plug circled in red. Notice the wires coming from the plug?

I also mistakenly circled the wrong thing in yellow. I actually circled the ported vacuum switch(for egr valve) but the coolant temp sensor in right below it.

And if people really want to dig into this, does one of these plugs have a Green/yellow stripe, and black/green stripe wire attached to it? I did a complete rewire, and I have these two final wires left that I believe went to something on the therm housing, any help is appreciated. :)

Yes, I just went out and checked and those are for the fan switch.

Is your check engine light on if it is it is the engine coolant sensor i just replaced my the other day it is the one with the two pins.I believe that is what is wrong with your car..

Both have 2 pins. Look at the last pic I posted(plug circled in red) and compare to your car and the pic of the sensors I posted. Just by looking at the connector, it is clear and easy to see that it is the fan swith, not the coolant temp sensor.

Just because his cel may be on does not mean that the cts is at fault. CEL codes would have to be retrieved to determine why the cel is on.

Just came across this as well..

This thread has really screwed me up. My cars been down the last 8 months, I originally did the thermostat stuff 6mo ago, And I started doubting what I did.. I left only the gauge sensor (single wire) and the coolant temp sensor (2 wire in a T config) which is for the ecu I believe. I plugged the other two holes off, which was the ac switch and the one with the vac lines.. Which is right *I hope*.. My fan switch itself is in the lower side of the rad... So I think I've got everything right, if those 2 wires I mention up a few posts, are for the ac switch, I can lose them as well..
