im building my six bolt and i was wondering what crank and rod bearings you guys recomend. i was thinking either oem or acl. im goin to be using wiseco 9.0:1 pistons with eagle rods if that helps any. thanks:laser:

you need to plastigauge them to make sure the clearances are in spec.. are you machining the crank? what about the rod ends? really, you would make sure they stay impeccably clean (use latex gloves), put them in the rod and the cap... lightly oil the rod bolts and torque them down to spec.. before you do this, you lay a small piece of plastigauge on the bearing surface.. after they are torqued down, you unbolt the caps and look at the strip you laid on there, and compare it to the spec in your shop manual (you have one, right? :) ).. if it is tapered or not the right spec, then you need to machine, or change the bearing accordingly... its rreeeaaalllyyy easy.. just get very familiar with the process by reading the engine rebuild section of your manual a few times.. again.. very simple process, but is must be done correctly, otherwise you will be rebuilding it again very quickly..

Trimetal has three layers of metal, outer layers are softer ( bottom and top) with a denser layer in between. Bet on needing machined surface though. I would go with genuine mitsu bearings. :D unless you are trying to build a motor with 600+ potential I have 3 friends who run stock bearings and one just dyno tuned at 436 WHP. He has had the car and this setup for 3-4 years now> He drives it 2-3 days per week.
