car wont start my first dsm so need alot of help please

ok so i bought a 90 eagle talon tsi first ever dsm have always worked on hondas (save the jokes for later) well when i bought the car it had an old battery so it kinda was slow to turn on so i bought a new one and it was good, 2 the power steering pump thing was leaking under high boost i'm guessing on the alternator took off the power steering system for good and while i was at it took out the alternator well i took it to autozone and they said it was good 3 when i went to start my car it had no power at all tried to jump start it and it showed power till i turned the key then it just went dead again even with the wires on the battery, when i push start it - it turns on good but ones you turn it off its off for good the battery is brand new and they told me the alternator was good is it a fuse or some thing??? well please help me i'm so lost thankx

If the power steering is leaking on the alternator that is a good way tokill the alternator and void your warranty.

Check you battery cables and terminals for corrosion and damage replace as necessary.

Also check fuses.

i just took off the power steering i need a good work out any ways haha but idk ### fuses to check...

Check all your fuses in the fuse box make sure nothing is blown. also check to make sure your connections are tight with the battery cables and alternator

If all else fails get the battery tested even if it is brand new you could have run it down to no power and sometimes your charging system just isn't enough to bring a battery back from that in which case a good battery tester/charger will usually bring it back to life as good as new.

yea thats what i was told to do 2 but is there a particular fuse i should look for

Umm i dont know for sure which ones to check but there should be a pic of what each one is on the cover for the fuses. If I were you i would just check them all over make sure none of them are blown it shouldnt take to long to look them over.

Take off the alt and get it tested asap. Also check the fuse's off of the battery. I think the alt one is black and a 40. There are also more fuses under the hood although I can't recall it right now. Make sure all of the ground wires are properly grounded and all of the power wires are connected. If you haven't already get new cable ends as sometimes that old stuff doesn't get tight. Update us after you've taken the alt to get tested (any local autozone will do this for free).
