I was leaving my friends house and decide to leave some rubber on his road. I remember being in second spinning and hearing a tink kind of noise . Then as i proceed up the road my wheel starts to knock around. So i got out and realized that i had just snapped two of the damn wheel studs off. Is this normal?

Over tightening them. Why would only two break from power? Plus why would they break at all from power, when it can more easily spin the rubber attached to it..

Yea it seemed really weird to me too. The studs where new i just replaced the wheel bearing about 2000mi ago. It looks likit stretched the other three:confused:Oh yea i always tighten them to 90 ft lbs.

Overtightened, age, rust, possibly from even being too loose.

Power is not a problem, especially if you are just spinning your tires.

The only time I heard about shearing studs was a 700+ horse power dsm launching for a 1/4 mile. It also sheared all the bolts on one wheel, the reason was age and power. I dont think you are near the power so I think age is the most probable. Good Luck
