I want to run a test pipe with the heat shield welded over it to look like a cat but would I be able to hook the wideband up to the sensor in the cat back and would elminating the sensor in the cat flip the CEL? Thanks!
:dsm:

actually, I just realized that my megan downpipe eliminates cat, so would the simulator still work and where would I be able to find one?

I doubt it comes with the bung, so id have to tap that into the downpipe and just install the o2?

either way your still going to throw a code... Its ### but what can ya do. Ive heard there is ways to by pass that so you dont throw codes from removing the cat.... or you could just take the bulb out LOL.

I had my cat removed and the muffler shop welded in a bung into my catback and reinstalled the rear o2 sensor and I've never had one cel or anything. Every car is different so try it out and see if it works. If not, call road race engineering and they'll set you up with the special part you need:thumb:

Well the rear O2 in the actual exhaust will be the best place for my wideband correct? I'll have to try and put that other O2 into the downpipe and if that doesn't work get the O2 simulator. Does that make any sense? haha

If you're going to have to weld a bung to the exhaust and plan on using it for a wideband, make sure you place it far enough away from the O2 housing. I forget exactly, and different folks say different things, but I recall it should be 36" back or more. Do some searching and then you can use the bung for the simulator in the short term and WB in the long term.

When I put on my catless turboback, I also just screwed the rear O2 back in (it came with a bung in the right location) and haven't thrown a code yet (maybe 1000 miles so far). I agree that you should try it and see if you luck out or not. If you throw a code you can make the simulator based on the tech article.

When i put the apexi n1 exhaust on my car we had actually broke the o2 sensor trying to get it out of my old exhaust .. i worked at a Mercedes Benz dealer at the time and i put a used benz o2 sensor in ( not hooked up ) and it never threw a cel.. like someone has said before all cars are different.

So could I weld the bung on somewhere near the location of the actual cat used to be and keep using the rear O2 then? I already have the Innovate wideband sensor and just wire it in the way the manual says.
