Okay soo I had my SAFC II stolen and I bought a new one. I wired it up and now I am having a couple issues. Number one when I start the car it runs like crap and misses and throws code 12 for the MAF. Im guessing the ECU is not getting a MAF signal at all. Number two when I was setting up my SAFC II everything was fine until I got to sensor select and when I try to scroll down it goes back to the loading screen for the safc II then returns to the sensor select screen. Then I can attempt to scroll down and it will reset again or I can hit the center button and go to the previous screen. Secondly as far as the SAFC II operates I go to the monitor screen and I see the two gauges on the screen for AirFlow and RPM and when I hit next to go to a different monitor screen the screen displays a bunch oh numbers and letters. So I am guessing I have a wiring problem and I am going to go over that now just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I would have taken video so I did not have to type all this but I am at work with no camera. Thanks if you can help me out.

92 gsx if your wondering

I just double checked all of my wiring and everything is in the right spot and in tact. any ideas?

Did you make sure you have the correct ground on the correct side of the ECU wire? I have heard of some funny problems if you mix them up. You might also want to pull the back off the SAFC and make sure the harness isn't falling out of the circuit board. I doubt that's the problem, but it's easy to check. Or you can drive to Pa and I'll be more than happy to let you borrow mine for testing. :)

LOL yeah im positive the ground is correct. Have the black wire and brown wire both spliced into the ecu ground wire and the brown wire is closest to the ecu. I believe the issue is with the SAFC II. There is no maf signal getting to the ecu and the SAFC II will not let me select the type of MAF sensor that I have, those two problems have to be related. Ill take some video if I cant figure it out tonight and post it up tomorrow. When I go to sensor select its fine and shows the first three sensors to choose from but if I try to scroll down its like the SAFC II reboots itself and reloads and then takes me to the same screen I was at. Very Very strange. Everything else in settings works fine. And the monitor screen is screwy as described in my first post.

That does sound like a hardware problem with the SAFC, but with all the weird problems surrounding the grounding issue, I thought it was worth a shot.

Can you get to the initialization screen on the SAFC?

Its funny you mentioned that. I went to the initialization screen and it prompted me if I wanted to do it and I said yes. Then went to back to see if it had erased the settings I had it previously and it did not!?

EDIT>> Initialization is bsaiclly a reset if I have read about it correctly. So I assumed my settings would be gone after I did that, but they were still there.

When you initialize the SAFC is should revert back to "out of the box" settings. So yes, everything should be gone.

Hmm well I cannot get it to initialize. And I cant select the MAF sensor. Thanks for reading and trying to help me out. My guess is my SAFC has some sort of problem :(
