After looking i decided i want to get a garret t28 turbo but dont know if the big version or just normal one...depending on what i get it says that for the t28 its just a bold on is that tru or do i need to do tunning ?

:dsm:

for cheaper you could probably get an evo III 16g and a J pipe and oil feed line..... I was at that exact choosing point , mainly because I was afraid of what modifications you would have to do to bolt the mhi turbo up... but really its basically bolt on to... seems like most 16g's i see in the classifieds come with a j pipe anyways... But unless you're going for a sleeper look, a t28 is just too highly priced in most cases imo...

as for tuning....either a t28 or evo III would definitely be best mated to atleast 550 injectors, a 190 walbro, mbc, and fmic to tap into some of their power,oh and some way to control fuel, either an AFC or dsmlink.... using it on the all stock setup, you really wont get your moneys worth of benefit... IMO i would buy some supporting mods before the turbo, so you can really reap the benefits when you do buy the turbo purchase..

lastly...boost is so addictive. I started about 3 years ago into dsm's with the intentions of "I only want 300 HP I will be happy with a T-28. I ended up with an Evo III 16g because the price was right and had slightly better #'s anyways... .. 3 monthes later a pte 50 trim and replacing all of my supporting mods again, because I bought my mods to support the t28/16g... so word of advice.... If you choose to get the supporting mods to support the bigger turbo... go bigger, 750 injectors and 255 walbro and fuel regulator with AFC or pretty much any injector size 255 w/ a fuel regulator and DSMLink as your fuel management... ... The difference in price between say 550's and 750's is usually around 20-40 bucks... and you can always turn them down to your needs... but if you start with 550's and then Need 750's... you're stuck replacing them and having to deal with the hassle of replacing them and selling the old ones etc..

Obviously the choice is ultimately your's... If you are definitely happy with the output of a T28 and will never need to upgrade again. Save the money, I just wanted to throw some of my experience out there so you are more informed when spending your money. So maybe you won't waste as much as I have LOL.

You are gonna do tuning, regardless when you change the turbo. Why don't you get a something a little bigger? Like FP Green or so. Get the biggest turbo and injectors, fuel, management, etc. you can afford, so later don't get caught in the mania:/i need bigger turbo, injectors, etc./
Better spend the money now once, than twice or more later.

what if i just run the 11-12 psi for now?

thanx for the words of wisdom dacowgod...ima start doin more research

thats fine. just remember that you have to calculate for more air flow. mods(intake, exhaust) boost low if you want to rev high(8-9 psi)@7500rpm. boost high 12-15psi if you want to rev low6500rpm.this is a good base line if you don't have an afc.also never go past 16 with stock ecu. and make sure your knock sensor is fairly new.:talon:

11-12 psi on a t-28 is not gonna be the same as 11-12 on your stock t-25. you have to go by the cfm's that each turbo flows to calculate that. but as stated before you will need adequate supporting mods and some type of tuning to run even a t-28. also, a t-28 is a completely bolt on ordeal. it will be indentical to your stock setup except just a larger turbo. and you can run a t-28 without any type of tuning or supporting mods, it's just not recommended. if you do that dont run over 9-10ish.
