I bought a Palm m130 that I would like to datalog with. THe palm only came with the docking cradle to sync. So my question is what do I need to log. I need to for one purchase a usb cable (not dock), then buy a usb to serial cable converter, then try and make my own wire to connect to my car? If im missing something or leaving something out let me know.. THanks guys!

If your docking station will work with a serial port, that's what you need. If it's USB-only, I think you need a different docking station (isn't the m130 older?). The older palms were all serial, and if I'm correct about it being older, you should be able to get a "car kit" that doesn't have the bulky base; just a plug. You plug the serial cable from the docking station (or "car kit") into a special "interface" or cable. You can make this or buy one cheap. The software is free (MMCd or OBDGauge) for 1g cars. Pocketlogger is not free ($125 for the software and interface for a 2g). The interface for 1g cars is completely different than for 2g cars, so if you're shopping for a 1g interface (cable), keep that in mind. It's something like an ADLD or ALDL OBD1 interface. If you're decent with a soldering iron, you can make your own for pretty cheap. There is a how-to linked from the Palm'n'stein site and I've seen it elsewhere as well.

yea its actually a usb dock, so Im going to have to buy a hotsync cable from ebay or something, then try and make the cable to connect to the car.. Then Im gunna try and use mmcd, anyone use the m130 with mmcd?
