18G Greddy Turbo on craigslist

this guys asking 400, which i would more than likely talk down to 3..
Would this be a good deal for the price??

im pretty new to dsm's just baught a 96 gs-t, going for more go from the line, than top end speed.

Yes that a good deal. But if your looking for more go from the line you should be looking into suspension, camberkit, and some good tires/ or slicks before getting a bigger turbo. The bigger turbo isnt not going to help as much as this stuff will. Bigger turbo on a FWD car means less traction and a slower 0-60 time, depending on how your car is set up. Yes you will have a slower spool up time, which will help with traction a bit but once that turbo spools up your going to start spinning the tires.

As for the turbo does it have any shaft play? How many miles are on the turbo? What amount of boost was the turbo seeing daily?

this is true my friend had his 14b at 18psi and got sideways when the boost kicked in. i would get performance tires, but not slicks you only need slicks if your looking a mid 11s in the 1/4 mile. get tires that have a Z in the id number as these tires are rated at more than 100 mph.

There's alot of tires that are rated for over 100 mph. Z-rated tires are rated for over 149mph. I believe h-rated tires are rated up to 139mph, and not sure about the rest;)I'm sure someone could elaborate on this a bit. Why would you not use slicks unless your looking for eleven's? Everyone want's to be a little quicker, and not all of us are running elevens. Sorry, kinda got off topic. Yes the 18g is a good turbo, and if it is in good condition that is a good deal.Ask questions like what Boost92AWD was asking.

it has no shaft play, ###### less than 1k miles. the person who owned it blew his motor before he could really do anything. I dont plan on installing the turbo yet, im just stocking up on parts for my setup. I have the suspension setup with some ssr d5r w/ sumiomo tires. they stick pretty well..

I dont plan on throwing this turbo on until i upgrade the rest of the motor first.

Slicks do give you more grip but if you only running lets say 14s the slicks wont really do too much. The more grip you have the more likely you are to break something. this is just what numerous people have told me. but maybe its a different story for FWD than it is for AWD instead of slicks id get an LSD.

18g are good, but i will stick to the evo3 16g, but the price is good for the 18g thou. I will buy it if i was you.

since this 18g is so cheap I'd say go with the 18g but if it were new and you were buying it. I'd say just buy a evo 3 they have the same inlet size the 18g is only slighty bigger and its $200 more! not really worth it.

Wrong....
And another thing, the GReddy 18g uses a dry center section so no water lines to deal with, and it doesn't require the use of a j-pipe like a standard pos 18g.
One thing though.
If you are using a 2g ex man, you will have to dent the waterpipe in order to fit it.

Mine kicks ass and I see 20psi by 3600rpm.
