i was wondering....

A friend of mine with a 97 TSI awd let me drive his car recently. It has a few extra mod's that i'm upgrading to soon but starting off with the same turbo. My clutch is currently stock and he has an ACT 2100 with the 6 puck. I liked the way it felt had alot more grip and i could handle driving it around town with no problems.

The question i have is would the ACT 2600 6 puck feel about the same or would it have more harsh engagement. The 2100 i drove had a little bit of play where you could atleast get the wheels rolling without the "launch" feeling. Anyone get what i'm asking here?

i'm probley going to order a clutch tonight and the reason why i ask is because either i'm going street disk or 6 puck. I'm leaning towards the puck just because it will handle launches alot better than a street disk.

Thanks

How much power are you looking to make? Anything below 400 ft-lbs should be fine with the street disk.

ATM, all i'm looking to make is 350-400 AWHP. Running off the 16g that is. Like i said i want it to be able to stand up to launches with no problems in the slipping department. ACT currently has a sale on their clutches and i'm gonna buy soon so still the question is will the 2600 feel like the 2100 6 puck? If yes then i'm getting it. ....If it has worse engagement then no. It's mainly a street car but i'm gonna hit the tracks hard when i go.

The engagement of a clutch is really based on the friction material used--a 2600 should have the same engagement style as a 2100 with the same disk.

Okay thanks that was The answer i was looking for LOL. So time to break out the credit card and figure out how i'm gonna get that thing installed.

right now im running a 2600 with a street disk but when the new turbo goes on this week its big and im going to be running 30psi of boost my friend told me that the street disk wont last real long with the 30psi and will slip he told me to go with a 4 puck what the big differnece in the 4 and 6 puck ? and how bad is it on a dd? i dd it but on 3 miles...

I'll be going with the 2600 6 puck sprung. Going to round up a few friends to do the install. I also love the fact that there is hardly a break in period with the 6 puck. Again i'm going just from what a friend said. "all you have to do is put it in 5th and roll it out...your done." I'm unsure how true this is but his talon had no clutch problems so eh good to go.

Talon187 it would probley be best to start your own thread or search the question. Hard to answer any questions when you hijack a thread.

Thanks everyone for the help!

Remember if you have the extra cash around its always good to replace the slave (with an oem one of course) when you do a heavier pedal clutch.
