hey, ok so i bought a set of rims off a friends evo. they are in pretty good condition but i want to sandblast, primer, then powder coat them. what is the best brand of primer and black powder coat to buy? and are there any concerns or anything in general i should be aware of before doing this? thanks so much for you help. LOL

I think your kind of confused about what powder coating is. Powder coating isnt something you can do yourself on larger parts like rims. Its baked onto the metal not sprayed on. You can find a local place that will do it for you usally, It costs $25 bucks a rim at a local place for me. Usally a custom car shop or motorcycle shop can point you in the right direction for a powder coater.

If you just want to paint your rims I used dupont primer and paint, because they are made to match for the best finish.

Not true, powder coat is indeed sprayed on, the item is electrically charged and the powder gets sprayed on and "sucked" to the grounded metal. You bake it after it's coated to melt/cure it. However you do need the equipment to do it, which I doubt you have. Like previously stated, get a local shop to do it, or paint them.

Yeah just find a local shop its easier and less time consuming for you. i have powdercoated a lot of parts on mine, its quick and relatively cheap for the outcome and it looks clean. Plus they blast it for you so you dont even have to do that.

if you want to do it yourself i went to autozone and bought primer and wheel paint there and i sanded the rims and did everything myself and it cost me like 20 buck total. and my rims turned out perfect.
