I've looked over countless topics on countless forums. I'm new to the whole turbo world and im learning step by step. I'm swapping out my stock turbo'd dsm motor with a stock turbo jdm cyclone motor w/ awd (motor) and rebuild it.

I'm looking for a list of parts that would be needed to "beef" it up. I've got a t3/t4 hybrid (T04E sound right?) It does have some play in it so that i'm going to send in to have rebuilt/balanced. The car is a 91 Plymouth Laser FWD. (turning into AWD)

I just want a simple parts list on top of what i've got here (and maybe a cheaper jdm cyclone motor? :sneaky: )

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Kris

I would try searching more, and posting up your goals. Like how much HP, track car, etc. We need something to base our opinions off of, not just a general I want to know what parts to buy.

Also I would go through and do all the maintenance that needs done, timing job, fluids, etc...

And you can't swap a 1G FWD to AWD. The Rear end is completely different from FWD to AWD on 1G's, unlike 2G's.

I'm just looking for a small parts list that I can try to run low 12's. I didnt get to run at IRP tonight due to work and rain. So i'm not sure what my quarter is right now. How is the rear-end different? I'm obviously swapping everything out but is it that different it cant be changed?

EDIT::::

Supposedly when i bought it:

New ECU installed, New wastegate installed, Eibach Springs and a stage two clutch was installed.

It has the infamous idle surge problem, which a master tech at work is fixing for me (thought it to be a vacuum leak but is possibly off time) This problem is being fixed this weekend.

Though the list is for me to build up an engine before i put it in the car (motor swap)

If you want AWD, it'll be best buying one. Engine wise, you can do the same with your FWD as you can with the AWD, since they have identical engines. When you search around for, AWD 1g conversions, you'll see why it's best to just buy an AWD car.

1G AWD has a completely different trunk pan and gas tank than FWD to accommodate the driveshaft and the rear differential. One would basically have to swap the entire rear of the car to be able to convert it to AWD. In the long run, the conversion would cost much more than a price of average 1G AWD car.

Obviously an AWD has a better take off, but other than that what else is it good for if i'm going to waste the money on it?

Better traction, quicker 1/4 mile times, better in snow, etc...

With front wheel drive, traction becomes a problem after very few mods on these cars. If you only ever want to run 12's then FWD may better suit your needs.
