Hey guys I have a 92' Automatic GSX and I bought it about a week ago. My question is if there is too much Auto Tranny Fluid in it would it cause a major power loss / stutter when shifting gears in the first few gears? it does this until it is about 50+ MpH when it becomes smooth once again.

Normally if it's overfilled if will spit what it doesn't want out the vent. Never heard of it causing any problems.

Do you guys think it's just a bad transmission'/torque converter or something along those lines? I have someone lined up to buy one for pretty cheap if so.. just trying to eliminate the need to change transmissions if I didn't need to. From what I read, the torque converter locks up @ high speeds right?

I also have never heard of this causing problems, but you might as well drain all the fluid and put the right amount in there so you know you got the right amount. Then start workin on the problem.

I actually put a little extra fulid in my car on purpose. My tranny slips (rebuild this summer) and the extra fluid seems to help it shift a little firmer once warm. It's a pain when it's cold though; the extra fluid doesn't help at all then.

what does the transmission fluid look like as far as color?

I know what it looks li ke LOL..it's red. It's not gear oil Trust me hah. I'm just trying to rule out everything before I end up replacing the torque converter and MAYBE transmission.
but this past week It's been shifting just smoother. Still just a little bit jerky but not as much nearly.
