I just purchased an Evo 3 7 bolt oil filter housing (to run an external oil cooler) and I ran into a small problem. The oil pressure sensor (located on the rear of the oil filter housing) doesn't seem to have a place to be relocated onto the Evo 3 oil filter housing.

I was wondering if anyone has done this swap before and how they went along with it? Any feedback would be great! Thanx.

I'm in the exact same boat. I'm just wondering if I can run without that stupid OEM sensor. I'm already going to have to drill and tap it, can I just keep the OEM pressure sender off and in its place run an aftermarket pressure sender in its place?

There is a hole in the front( right near the oil filter location. its threaded), i put the sensor there instead of the oil pressure light switch. Id rather have a pressure reading instead of a light. Also, i have an oil line that is suppose to come from it( for a 16g or other turbo install ) and i was wondering where you installed it? can you help?

Alright...let me find a picture... I kept mine because who keeps constant watch on their gauges? Personally I dont unless something is seriously wrong, I put in the light and it saved my car twice when the car dumped oil and saw the light and turned off the car in time. Sorry that was a run-on sentence. It is a 1/8 bsp thread, which you will not find a tap for locally (at least in my case).

You can see it right to the right of the SS lines...

Hey D eclpse 9916! where did you mount your turbo oil feed line? Im getting a adaptor to run both sensor and light, and my only problem now is where to install the oil feed line. Please HELP! Thanx

Isn't there an allen plug you can take out to run your oil feed? I swear I see D_Eclipse's oil feed coming from his OFH.
And I guess the vibe is that you can run without an idiot light or factory oil pressure sensor without any issues. Great. Forward ho!

There is an allen plug, and i removed it to put my turbo oil line return fitting. But, if you look there is a gold cap in that picture. That gold cap is actually an oil pressure relief valve with a really long spring and shaft in it. When you remove that allen plug you will see it throgh the hole. I was wondering if it restricted oil flow to that specific spot that would deem that location unsuitable for a turbo feed line due to lack of or low oil pressure.

There is an allen plug here....remove it and feed from there like you would with the stock oil filter housing.... Same adapter too!

I've been looking into getting one of these 7-bolt external oil cooler mounts for some time now, but from what I gather in this thread it seems there aren't any pre-tapped holes for mounting BOTH the oil pressure sensor sending unit AND the low oil pressure light sensor.
Is this so? You mean you have to drill and tap the mount yourself if you want to mount both?

Aren't you feeding your turbo unfiltered oil how you have it mounted?

According to RRE the turbo oil feed line should be mounted here:

You are correct. Me and Robert Honda (from RRE) took our time to study this. I put my turbo oil line at that spot and havent had any troubles.

what are you guys doing about the stock water linesthat go to the oil cooler? just pluging them?

I tried looping and it looked like crap and was a disaster waiting to happen. I welded the nipple shut on the front water pipe. And converted the other port to accept AN fittings.

i see, i ended up just caping them off LOL, looks ugly but i will come up with a better way later on.
