Hey guys, so my ac belt (one farthest back and closest to driver) fell off while i was driving today. I searched and it seems like ill be ok without it, but i just want to double check, and also if theres anything i should or shouldnt do now that its off.

its perfectly fine, no need to do anything to. mine has been off my galant (along with the bracket) for over a year now. and my system is still in tact and pressurized.

thats good to know, but im just wondering will anything bad happen if the ac gets turned on from the inside, since sometimes someone may turn it on without asking?

Nothing will happen. there is no belt and the only thing i could think of would be the fan would kick on. When you use your defrost it kicks on the ac compressor but it will not hurt anything not having the belt off. but i would check your other belts to make sure they are okay if that one fell off.

Shouldn't be a problem. Only thing is your defroster will not work as well as it did before you lost the belt. You will also be kicking yourself in the a*$ on a really hot day for not putting on a new belt.

LOL, well ive never really used ac to begin with, even in the summer ive learned to just use my windows and sunroof. Thanks for putting my mind at ease guys... any ideas of what cost would be to replace this thing?

My A/C belt was the first to go when my main crank pulley started to fail. I didn't think anything of it just replaced it and then a couple of months later it took out all my belts. Was/ is there any squealing your car has done especially after sitting for a while/ being cold?

sorry to bring back a dead thred, but i was thinking of removing my AC System, so i searched and when i read this and the bolded stuff caught my eye.

my car does this, on cold starts it will squeal like crazy for about a solid 5 seconds...is he saying that my main crank pulley is going?

Mine did too. Changed the belts and it stopped.
