My car is making a strange noise. It is acting like a boost leak. it is idleing really wierd and there is no power at full boost. It does boost normally but there is no power. here is a vid let me know.
YouTube - engine tick

thanks,

I had spun a rod bearing on a new engine and I know that that doesn't sound like what mine sounded like...but its possible that you have a spun bearing. Drop the oil pan and see if you have any metal shaving in the oil. It ALMOST sounds like you had an exhaust leak but that could just be the recording of the video too.

Thats the thing it does sound like an exhaust leak at idle and a low rpm's, it sounds like it is idleing like a tractor.
That why i thought it was a boost leak, But then the ticking sound. Also it kinda has a high picth almost whistle like sound coming the engine too sometimes. Now this sound only happens for a few seconds. but the tick does not go away.

Mine did the same thing. Sounded like a tractor, I had a tapping sound, and i hit like 12psi with no acceleration. Turns out I had 7 missing exhaust manifold studs and skipped timing a tooth. I would check for exhaust leaks then double check your timing.

Any one elce have an idea. It is 100% not an exhaust leak. The ticking sound is coming from inside the engine, could be the head but could also be the bottom end. Also if somehow it did skip timing would is act/sound like it is. I have ben searching for a easy way to check to see it did skip a tooth. But i am not too sure. I could drop the oil pan but i have no new oil to put in and i am flat broke. thanks.

Pull the pan and grab all the rods see if they have play. I don't think you'll find much there though
