Uh, cool. My ex girlfriend drives a stock 1G too, but hers is lavender, and nobody would bother making a video about it.

You guys remember what its like be frustrated with your car after it breaks, the PITA it is to acquire some parts and find the time to fix it, then how good it feels to turn the key and drive it around the block?

Thats what hes trying to say. No need to be jerks about it. Laser-Fist, you are not going last on this board very long. This isnt a Honda-flame-everyone forum. You should be in bed, you have high school in the morning.

Congratulations brace, welcome to the road. Check this out for your idle surge problem. Terry's Talon Troubleshooting Tips #3 - Fast Idle (aka. Idle Surge)

Video fairly well done, abit lengthy-->just need to try and make the next one abit more exciting . Good quality, with some nice shots. Song choice was good.

Looks to be a very clean 1G.

Balance shaft belts suck. ahah

Congratulations on getting it back to a running state!

I think I know how he feels. When I got my Talon I was all hyped and worked endless hours rebuilding the motor with my dad. It took a lot of evenings to get the car rebuilt....like 2-3 months worth of evenings...my dad is old (so he says) so he wouldn't work past 9...we only started at 5. And my car needed a lot! 3000 dollars later...car was running wonderfully!
1000 miles later spun a rod bearing. car sat all summer and fall because my dad didn't want to waste his summer working on a car. So a buddy removed the engine from my car and got it all apart for me. I started doing everything on my own....which kind of scared me doing all that engine work on my own...but I found out I needed a new crankshaft and a new rod and all new bearings and piston rings and all kinds of stuff.....and previously spending 3000 dollars on the car to begin with when I am still in high school and I put out all the money I had the first time! So I decided it was time to rip apart my old GSX that I seized the head on. (don't ask...LEARNED LESSON!!!) so after spending about 3 months waiting for the engine to get ripped out and apart from my Talon then ripping apart the GSX...I had all the parts and finally got help from my dad again. 1000 dollars later and another month of rebuilding...I had myself another new engine...which as of right now is running beautifully!! So I had a bad year you could say!
But I totally respect the fact that not everyone can work all hours of the day on their car. And people who even put there time into making their cars run good and correctly on this site should be praised not put down. So I would just like to say....good job! And I hope that you enjoy your DSM and take awesome care of it!

If you don't like the video...don't watch it...plain and simple. Great video, loved the music especially at the end. I know exactly how you feel my car jumped timing about 2 years ago, and because I had a D.D. and I was financially responsible for other things it been sitting in my parents backyard. Now I have the time and most of the money to get her back out there. So kudos to getting back on the road.

Hey, Can't make everyone happy! Thanks for those of you for the support on getting this thing running again. For those of you that don't have experiencing wrenching on your own car.....trust me, you will be making a video or taking pictures of your work and be proud of it. But instead you flame guys like me cause this video is boring...yeah...so...don't watch it, grow up. After you bust your knuckles and get scrapes from working on a car like this makes me even more proud because more DSMer's out there don't even know how to take off thier valve cover.....let alone, replace the whole head and change their own timing belt/ balance belt. Let alone, I didn't get to work on this car in my own garage. I only have 5 hours in 2 days of the week to work on this car cause it was in a college campus auto tech facility. So it just made it that harder. So if you are going leave a negative comment, save it for yourself when your timing belt jumps two teeth and bends all your valves. We'll be seeing your sorry self posting on how to change a cylinder head. Agian, thanks to all of you for the props on the vid and the project. DSM4LIFE!

Settle down alittle dude, I was just trying to give you my opinion of your video didn't mean to piss you off. And I have done all the work on every dsm I've owned and my brother in laws too. I have done plenty of timing belts, heads, clutches, full rebuilds, shift kits, and suspension.

No hard feelings. I was mostly referring to the high school kid that (Absolute DSM) was referring to. You got these 17 year olds that think they know everything cause they change their oil. I know the vid was morbid for some but just stay tune for the next video.

Thanks, I use to drive it everyday but with gas coming up to $4.00 and being a full time student.....$40 every 3 days isn't helping me out. A tank in my DSM will last me a week....which is really good and can fit my budget. Oh yeah, it usually has 22'' rims on it but I've been going to the mountains where snow is present and alot of salt on the roads. So I switch off the rims from changing seasons.
