balance shaft question

can I not just cut the front balance shaft and put the sprocket back on?
I havent seen any threads sayin it couldnt work but i wanted to check and see.
When I took my engine apart I noticed the belt and I guess what would have been the tensioner were removed but I wanted to remove the shafts if I can

Just buy the $40 BS elimination kit and be done with it. Dont cheap out on a cheap product to start with. I would not trust cutting the Balance Shaft and putting it back in the car.
 
if you want to get rid of your balance shaft belt then there are two ways you can do this the first being the best way and that is to buy a balance shaft eliminator kit and do it the right/proper way with the kit or

if you are to lazy you can just take off the belt and remove the rear balance shaft and leave the front banance shaft in to block off the oil port. this wont hurt anything. remember that you will have to remove the rear banace shaft completly and install a stub shaft. there are no oil ports in the rear balance shaft only the front.

True, these are the only 2 ways that i would trust. My main motor that is a little more built than the motor currently in my car and has the "real BSE" kit from road race. But my current motor was my "just in case spare" and i only recently pulled the balance shafts out of it during a cam install. Since i had to pull the timing components for the cams, i decided to re-gasket the whole front of the motor and oil pan at the same time. So i left the front shaft in but didn't put a belt on it. Then in the rear i used the Mitsubishi Mirage stub shaft from the other motor.. You can't pull the front one out unless you spin the bearings in the journals for it. But, the rear one feeds it;s own oil supply from the center of the shaft since it's part of the oil pump. so you can use a stub shaft or get real ghetto (which i don't recommend) and cut it off behind the pump and weld a bolt into the end of it to block off it's oil passage
