cambridge,
Hi.
I have a 93 awd turbo.
I have a question.
Im currently ripping apart my awd tranny.
im gonna send my center diff to jacktransmission to get it welded.
heres my question.

if i have a welded center diff....do i still need a sbr vce....to be able to take the transfer case off for fwd dyno days?

or if the center diff is welded....it locks the front to the back...and i can reuse my old vce...and will i still be able to take off the case for a fwd dyno?

pls help...

thanxs!!!!

You either have to have the stock or a VCE. You can't run without one. It is what holds the output shaft for the transfer case. You should be able to run with the stock VC and a welded diff for the dyno.

You need to consider that either set up will put a lot of extra stress on the transfer case and shaft regardless of how you are driving it. We broke the slip yolk U-Joint because of a welded center diff. If that happens the front part of the drive shaft falls down in the direction of travel, not a pretty sight.
